Sierra Pack

The Sierra Pack is a super versatile pack that can take the form of a wader workstation or a sling-carried musette pack. With a main compartment sporting organizer sleeves, an exterior mesh pocket, built-in tippet holder, and webbing anchors for tools and accessories, this little pack can carry and organize all the essentials for your small stream adventures.

Features

Ample space for 1-2 fly boxes and your phone and wallet, plus internal pockets for leaders and other accessories.
Webbing straps on the front and sides to stow hemostats and provide numerous attachment options for tools.
Front mesh pocket
Integrated tippet holder
Magnetic fly patch makes drying flies easy, and is strong enough to hold light tools.
Reinforced webbing loops at top and sides provide for chest carry from suspenders or straps, or sling carry with optional carry strap.

I recommend this make for those who have made a thing or two to build up some basic sewing skills. If you have started your sewing journey with MYOG Angler and are comfortable building the Walker Net Holster or the Fast Fly Mini Pack, you’re ready to take this on!

Recommended Materials

The main materials used in this build include:

200+ denier pack fabric such as EPX200, X-Pac VX21, or Cordura for the outer shell.
100+ denier ripstop nylon or similar for the liner.
1 inch (2.5cm) and 3/8” (1cm) poly or nylon webbing
1/2 inch (13mm) double-fold polyester bias tape
Size 5 YKK zipper tape and reverse sliders

These materials are readily available through online merchants like Ripstop by the Roll, Rockywoods Fabrics, and even Amazon and Ebay.
