Walker Net Holster
Keeping your net at-the-ready has never been easier or more secure. This beginner-friendly pattern features high function and great form. The Walker Net Holster is named after the Walker River in California, where I lost a net way-back-when because I didn’t have it secured in a proper holster.

Features
The Walker net holster is a simple design with high function and form. Build for light weight, comfort, and peace of mind, it makes keeping you net at-the-ready easy and secure.
- Reinforced webbing belt loops keep the net holster secure to your wading or pack belt.
- The pouch supports just about any hand net, short or long-handled, and the bottom opening can be adjusted with the placement of bar tacks to custom fit to your particular net.
- Waterproof fabric with closed-cell foam construction to prevent the holster from absorbing water when wet.
- Simple design requires just a few materials.
- Assembled Dimensions: 6.75 x 6 x 1 inches (17.1 x 15.3 x 2.5 cm)
Challenge Level: Beginner
This pattern makes an excellent first-build for anyone just starting out. In fact, this was the first pattern I made after I had mastered the basics of MYOG myself with only a few hours of sewing under by belt.
Recommended Materials
The Walker Net Holster only requires a small amount of a few select materials to build, including
- 200+ denier pack fabric such as EPX200, X-Pac VX21, or Cordura.
- 1 inch (2.5cm) poly or nylon webbing
- 1/2 inch (13mm) double-fold polyester bias tape
- 1/4 inch (6mm) thick closed-cell foam
These materials are readily available through online merchants like Ripstop by the Roll, Rockywoods Fabrics, and even Amazon and Ebay.
